Light
eyes don't work for men in the movies"...
"too long a nose"... "too lean a
frame"... just some of the comments he bore
before re-creating Bollywood history with his
smashing debut 'Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Post Krish and
Dhoom 2 Hrithik Roshan is the most bankable
Bollywood star.
Born on January 10, 1974 to then film star Rakesh Roshan
(now producer/director) and wife Pinky, Hrithik (aka
Duggu) grew up in the world of cinema, not truly
understanding the hardships that one must endure
to achieve success in the industry.
As a child, Hrithik's idol was none other than Papa
Roshan, and he knew even then that one-day, he'd follow
in dad's footsteps and pursue a career in acting as
well. Being the grandchild of Producer J. Om Prakash,
Duggu debuted in films as a child when he played a role
in his Nana-ji's movie Bhagwan Dada. Later, he also
danced for a song sequence in his grandfather's Aasha
(starring Jeetendra).
With
the release of Kaho Na Pyar Hai Hrithik became an
overnight sensation. The success of Koi Mil Gaya and
Krish only cemented his position as the superstar of
Hindi films. A dedicated actor, Hrithik has signed a
three film deal with Adlabs worth Rs 35 crores.
Hrithik's forthcoming film include Akbar Jodha. The epic
is being directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and stars
Aishwarya Rai opposite him.
