Casanova,
Indian cowboy, stubborn Khan kid - Fardeen’s nicknames are many. A star than an
actor, this son of the aged Khan with the playboy attitude, Firoz Khan, has had
his share of ups and downs on Bollywood terrain. From the immensely forgettable
flicks like
Prem Aggan and Janasheen, the star kid has made a presence in the
big bad world of Bollywood.
Fardeen is today an icon among the youth. With his
international good looks he makes fans swear by him. This must be what made ace
director Govind Nihalani has cast him opposite another ‘icon-but-not-an-actor’
Kareena in his Dev. Dev, incidentally, has the legend Amitabh
Bachchan and the actor par excellence Om Puri in the cast.
Even before his debut, this Khan kid was a star. Like another star kid – Vivek
Oberoi -- who came into the scene later on, he too rode on tremendous hype even
before dad Feroz launched him in Prem Aggan. The hype, however didn’t pay off,
at least for a while. Bollywood filmgoers wrote him off in a minute. Prem
Aggan was such a bad experience for the audience - and for Fardeen too.
He resurfaced
again, films came trickling in to his side soon. He managed to come out of exile
with some big banners signing him in. He was being given another chance to
survive.
Boney Kapoor’s Khushi, Ram Gopal Verma’s Pyar
tune Kya Kiya, Jungle and Bhoot gave him
opportunities to act and establish himself as a bankable
star. Success
of No Entry where Fardeen tried comedy for the first
time was a big boost to his career. His
forthcoming films include Qurbani that is being remade
by Feroz Khan and Sajjid Khan's directiorial debut Hey
Baby.
