Amrita is
Chhaiyya Chhaiyya girl Malaika Arora's
kid sister. But her introduction doesn't merely stop
at that. Amrita Arora is a well loved MTV Veejay,
and guess what, she went a step further than big
sister to sign three films [no less] as leading lady
with the likes of Fardeen Khan, Aftab Shivdasani and
Abhishek Bachchan.
She comes from mixed parentage- a Malayalee catholic
mother and Punjabi father hence the combination of north
and south- fair skin and broad hips [her words, not
mine]
Amrita started modeling as a kid and modeled her way to
stardom - her Salim/ Anarkali portrayal in the Close Up
ad and her Pepsi commercial are still remembered. Even
her MTV assignment just fell into her lap. Like any
normal kid sister she'd tag along with Malaika when she
went for her MTV shoot and when the MTV bosses saw her
they invited her to join the MTV hunt. She did, and with
her gift of the gab she was selected. Not only selected,
but her contract was renewed and she was on the channel
for two years. And then came the film offer.
Mehul Kumar saw this nymphet on MTV and invited her to
meet him. He told her a story which she liked and before
she knew what was happening she had been signed to play
heroine opposite Fardeen Khan in Kitne Door Kitne
Paas. As always, she's having a ball doing the song
and dance routine and says "I love it all- there's
nothing I dislike about this world of Hindi films!"
