Kumar has now evolved into a mature actor with a
superb sense of comedy timing. Besides the three
Khans, Akshay Kumar is the only actor who commands
box office following and opens his films to houseful
shows.
Akshay Kumar who is originally called Rajiv Hari Om
Bhatia is born on 7 September 1967. He studied martial
arts in Hong Kong. Somebody suggested him to try modeling
because of his good looks. From their he was offered
films.
His debut film was Saugandh which was released in
1991. His career graph however changed when Abbas-Mustan's Khiladi
became a big
hit. He backed it
up with three fabulous hits, Rajiv Rai's Mohra, Yash
Chopra's Yeh Dillagi and Kuku Kohli's Suhaag. After
'Khiladi' clicked, the word became lucky for him as
producers crazily used the word to reap the benefits. To
make things better, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Sabse Bada
Khiladi and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi also did splendid business.('International Khiladi' and 'Mr. And Mrs.
Khiladi' were the only exceptions, as both bombed).
Akshay is hailed as the master of action, he is
perhaps, the ONLY actor who has performed 99% of his
dare-devil stunts all by himself, unlike other actors
who have stuntmen to do it. With films like Dhadkan,
Jaanwar and Herapheri, Akshay Kumar slowly moved away
from his action image to family films and comedies.
Today along with the three Khans he is the most bankable
star in Bollywood. His last release Namaste London was
not only a huge hit in India but abroad also. His
latest films include Welcome, Hey Baby, Tashan.
