 Behind some leading lights of the Punjabi pop
industry is the power of their verse, given to them
by one of the best known writers of the day, Debi
Maksoospuri. The widely read lyricist, himself a
young music enthusiast has also made inroads onto
the singing and performing stage, coming back often
to this, his first love.
Debi Makhsoospuri was born on June 10. From childhood, Debi was fond of poetry & in the age of 20 he wrote his first Punjabi song after which he never looked back. He respect & follow "Kuldeep Manak". He wrote many songs which were sung by renowned artists like Kuldeep Manak, Sardool Sikandar, Hans Raj Hans, Manmohan Waris, Kuldeep Paras etc.
Music-setting the tone for an
ingrained writer at heart. Debi Makhsoospuri, born with
the talent for the lyrical, honed it further through
immersion in world literature in his school and college
days.
Having got his break at the age
of 20, writing for Kuldip Manak, a legend of the times,
he was propelled to the big league to pen lyrics for
some household names of Punjabi pop music today.
Going beyond penning thoughts
and ideas on paper, to harnessing his talent for the
vocal too. Diversify, open up, make the most of ability,
that's his motto.
Makhsoospuri's latest release 'Sone
Da Taveez' has been received well. After his debut vocal
release in 1994 with 'Jad Maa Nayi Rehndi, he's had as
many as 10 vocal releases, besides live recordings of
his poetry. |
