The emergence of Hard-E into the Asian music scene was sparked by his cousin, Jazzy B. Jazzy Bains has been giving off hit after hit since he arrived on the shores of England . Born in India , raised in Canada , Jazzy B moved to England to focus on a larger Punjabi audience for his traditional bhangra sound. After teaming up with hit-producer Sukshinder Shinda, Jazzy B called his cousin, Hard E, to work with Shinda on backup vocals for his albums.
Since Hard E`s voice and singing style was quite similar to Jazzy B, the "Canadian cousins" (as they are commonly called) found their niche in the Asian music industry.
In the beginning of 1999, Hard E decided to take up his own solo project. Already greatly influenced from the music of Jazzy B and his producers, Hard E asked Sukshinder Shinda to produce the music for his future solo album. When "Underworld" was released in the winter of 1999, audiences were shocked at this new-name bhangra artist who managed to have tracks on the album with Shazia Manzoor, Manjit Papu, and Dippa. Audiences were also shocked to see that a young Indian man with a bizarre long hairstyle and awkward sense of dress, was actually a true desi at heart. The album became an instant blockbuster in the UK.
After a long gap Hard E returned with another solo
album Turn On.
