Tera
Mera Dil brings to mind one gorgeous
singer who promises to stay on the Indipop
music scene for years to come. For Roop Johrie,
music has always been the love of her life,
ever since childhood. By the time she was two
and half years old, she was singing complete
ghazals.
Roop was highly influenced by Lata and Asha
Mangeshkar and has unconsciously imbibed the
subtle nuances of these two singers. She also
enjoys listening to Simon & Garfunkel, Belinda
Carlisle, Crosby-Stills-Nash & Young, Al
Stewart, Bread and Madonna. Her all-time
favorite composers are R.D. Burman and O.P.
Nayyar.
Roop’s debut Pop album
Tera Mera Dil
was released in October 2003. More than half
the songs in the album have been composed and
written by her. The lead video song Honey
Honey has become a huge hit, and it’s
video featuring Salman Khan with her is
regularly aired on all music channels. The
second video Taqdeer, featuring Sanjay
Dutt and Sunil Shetty with her, too has been
greatly appreciated. |
