Life is her
license to experiment... the world is a stage on which she has transcended the boundaries of conformity. So, there is Sharon Prabhakar the singer. And Sharon Prabhakar the theatre personality.
Sharon has come a long way ever
since she first burst into the musical arena with ‘Aa
Mere Jaisi Haseena' for music director, Bappi Lahiri in
the film, 'Armaan.' In 1985, Sharon won the 'Singer of
the Year' award for this song. it was apparent that
Sharon was an artist that was here to stay. Sharon then
embarked on a world tour. The Madison Square Gardens,
The Royal Albert Hall, the Kenyatta Conference Hall,
Sharon packed them in show after show. From 1995 to 2000
Sharon extensively traveled, simultaneously representing
India at Pop Festivals the world over.
In 2001, she represented India
in Singapore as one of seven artists selected worldwide
from popularity poll. From 2002 to 2005, Sharon
successfully balanced her love for the theater with her
ongoing pop tours. In 2006 she felt it was time to do an
album. Her dream? To mix the contemporary with her
personal favorites. The result: a collection of her
favorites spearheaded by the superb, trendy Arabic
hiphop 'Dilruba,' penned by the lyric maestro himself
Sameer, with music composed by the young Talented
Tauseef Akhtar. |
