 Being one of the runner-ups in the popular
music show Meri Awaaz Suno with
Sunidhi Chauhan gave Ishaan the hope and the
courage to know that he could try playback
singing. He landed up in Mumbai struggling
to become a star.
Hailing from a middle class family from
Jamshedpur, Music has always been an integral
part of Ishaan's life. He trained himself in
classical music from his mother Mrs.Manashi
Dutta, then from Pt. Sudhindra Bhowmick
for 5 years and also from Tulika Ghosh
for a while.
Hard work and Dedication was finally
rewarded when in 1995 he got a call
from Yash Chopra's wife Pamela chopra
who offered him to sing in her film called
Humko Ishq Ne Mara. He sang 2 songs in
that film under the music direction of
Aadesh Shrivastava.
Success was unstoppable as he was again
chosen by a company called Imagik for the
album, "The complete Bhupen Hazarika".
Soon he was a part of India's first mixed
band called ARIA and shot the videos in
Moscow. Then "MOHABBATEIN"
happened as a big break after a few years in
which he sung for Jimmy Shergil.
