Arnab
Chakraborty hails from the City of Joy -
Kolkata - and is a perfect example of a
singing sensation in the making. A regular
live performer since the age of 15, Arnab came
to Mumbai in 1999 to pursue playback as a
career.
After a brief struggle and mastering a few
singing competitions, Arnab got the big break
he was waiting for. His song Wada Raha Pyar
Se Pyar Ka in the film, Khakee, climbed the popularity charts.
Born and
brought up in Kolkata, Arnab grew up listening
to the music of SD Burman, RD Burman, Salil
Choudhary, Hemant Kumar, Manna De and many
legendary musicians from Bengal.
Besides performing at live shows, Arnab has
participated in several top-level
competitions. He won the RD Burman Award at an
inter-state singing competition in 1996-97. He
is also the winner of the Coca Cola Rock The
Mike Contest 2002 and the MTV Video Ga Ga
Awards 2002, where he was discovered by Javed
Akhtar in the presence of greats like
Jatin-Lalit and Usha Uthup.
After coming to Mumbai, Arnab started singing
jingles for top brands like Airtel, Ponds, Air
Sahara, Vimal, Pears, Cadbury, Indian Oil, LG
TV, etc. Simultaneously he also sang remixes
for albums like Romanov Party Mania, Swing
Thing, RD9, Kamar Tod Mix
and many more.
