For the past decade, Alka Yagnik has reigned
supreme in the world of playback singing in India.
Alka Yagnik came to Bombay almost two decades ago
and ever since she has become an inseparable part
of the film industry.
Hailing
from a family rooted in classical music, Alka
Yagnik, began her musical career at the age of 6
where she sang bhajans on Calcutta Radio.
Her stint in the Indian Film Industry began with
the Payal Ki Jhankaar (1979) and in Laawaris
where she sang the famous Mere Angene Mein.
Alka Yagnik struck gold
with the saucy Ek Do Teen from Tezaab
which won her the Filmfare for Best Female
Playback Singer. Since
then
she
has reigned
supreme in the world of playback singing in India.
