Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar was born at Alwar
(Rajasthan) in 1927. He is the only living son of
the illustrious Musician Padmabhushan Ustad Alla
Bande Rahimuddin Khan Dagar who died in 1975.
The young R .
Fahimuddin was trained in music by his father for
more than 35 years, but it was
Ustad Rahimuddin Khan's elder brother the
legendary Ustad Nasriuddin Khan Dagar, who
initiated R. Fahimuddin into the art by typing the
symbolic thread of discipleship on his wrist at
the age of five. The promising pupil responded by
devoting the next
14-year of his life to the single-minded practice
of the elements of voice culture, entailing
mastering of the fifty two Alankaras.
Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar Khan is known not only for the
power and spontaneity of his Alap, but also for his
rich repertoire of Compositions of which are
believed to date back to the Twelfth and Thirteenth
Centuries. As a person, the Ustad is simple and of
sober habits and temperamentally averse to publicity
and self aggrandizement. It is only the quality of
his music and no express desire to become better
known, which has taken him to about Ten Countries
including USA, France, Germany and Italy, for
performances before select audiences.
