Gharana vocalists and the grand daughter of the
legendary vocalist, Krishnarao Shankar Pandit
Meeta Pandit was born into a musical family. Her
grandfather Krishnarao Shankar Pandit was one of the
most important Gwalior Gharana vocalists. She
received training from her grand father and father
Krishnarao Shankar Pandit. After the untimely demise
of her brother Tushar Pandit, the burden
of carrying forward the family tradition is now on
her.
Meeta Pandit has a powerful voice, well suited to
the idiom of Gwalior Gharana. She is well versed in
Khayal, Tarana, Ashtapadi and Bhajan. She sings
regularly on AIR and Doordarshan and in music
festivals. She has also released her debut album,
Footsteps.
