It took Junoon and Strings some 6 years to break boundaries and cross over to India to vow the crowds there.
Fuzon took merely a year to build up a credible fan base in India.
Fuzon began in
2001. Shallum Asher Xavier and Imran Momina were
the founding members, who decided to put their
heads together as they realized that their
musical ideas and tastes were identical. They
developed several tracks together, but lacked a
quality vocalist.
Meanwhile, Shafqat
Amanat Ali (son of one of Pakistan's legendary classical singers, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan of the renowned Patiala
Gharana) who had
been singing for a few years had happened to
drop into Imran's recording studio for an
assignment. Shafqat's vocals so impressed the
duo, that Shafqat was signed up with Shallum and
Imran to form the band Fuzon.
Their debut album Sagar
immediately catapulted them into limelight. in
2005 they took the magic of their music to USA
with a series of well attended concerts. Having
performed at MTV Emmy awards, the band was
recently in news when Shafqat Amanat Ali was
signed on by Karan Johar to sing Mitwa for his
film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.
