For Shanti is band created by the ex-singer & -guitar
player of MTV award-winning Indian rock band
Indus Creed. Their sound can be best described
as Indian rhythms and melodies melded with rock
and funk grooves.
Vocalist Uday Benegal and guitarist Jayesh
Gandhi had always been drawn to the sounds of their
Indian roots, and combined with all their other
influences, they separated as one unit from Indus Creed
and decided to put together music that would reflect their eclectic tastes.
The band's first self-titled album was recorded in
Mumbai and features some of the world's premier Indian Classical
and folk musicians.
Now
based in New York, Uday, Jayesh and Alms For Shanti have been performing in USA,
Canada and India.
