singer ever. Along with Mehdi Hassan, he has
played a pioneering role in reviving the
Ghazal in the seventies. He can deservedly

Ghulam Ali was born in a village in Sialkot
district, of Pakistan in 1940 into a musical
family. His father was a vocalist as well as a
sarangi player. Ghulam Ali got his initial
musical training from his father. Later he was
briefly trained by the legendary ustad Bade
Gulam Ali Khan, Bade Mubarak Ali Khan and Barkat
Ali Khan. He started singing for Lahore radio in
1960 and has been immensely popular ever since.
The hallmark of Ghulam Ali's style is his
mastery over Classical Music and perfect
understanding of the ghazal. He fuses them
perfectly to bring this complex amalgam within
